In Queensland, the law does not specify under what conditions medical cannabis may be prescribed; it is up to the prescribing doctor to apply for and support its use in each individual circumstance. Our premium service will connect you with a knowledgeable doctor who will consult with you privately (in person or through telemedicine) to determine the best course of action for improving your quality of life.
Our team believes that everyone deserves equal access to safe medicine. Home-grown cannabis products can have inconsistent levels of the active ingredients, and can potentially contain dangerous contaminants. Cannabis produced under the TGA and imported for use in Australia is regulated and controlled to ensure consistently high quality for accurate and effective dosing under the supervision of a doctor.
In Queensland, there is an extra administrative burden in navigating the medical cannabis approval system; for this reason, our fee in QLD is $550. You'll find our rate is significantly lower than what other clinics are charging. We request $150 before your initial consultation with one of our doctors. The remaining fee is due in instalments before your 1-month, 2-month and 6-month follow-up appointments.
The NSW government supports research in the health sector with respect to the use of cannabis in medicine, and encourages both educators and industry sectors to advance our collective knowledge in this field. The Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics at the Univeristy of Sydney was created with a very generous private donation to undertake research in the area of alleviating pain.
The TGA oversees the use of therapeutic goods in Australia, but each state or territory has its own set of requirements as well. The prescribing and dispensing of cannabis-based products (including CBD) in Western Australia is controlled by the Medicines Regulation Branch of the Department of Health.
The NSW Government of Australia has been proactive in supporting doctors who want to prescribe medical cannabis. It opened the Cannabis Medicines Advisory Service, the first of its kind in Australia, to provide expert advice to doctors, and has since streamlined the application process. While there are still strong safeguards against abuse, NSW boasts the quickest access to marijuana for appropriate medicinal uses.
